Removing and installing primary catalytic converter (underhood)

Remove/Install

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Raise vehicle.

Remove bolts (1)



Unscrew nuts (2) and remove springs

 Replace self-locking nuts (2).



Unscrew nuts (4)

 Replace self-locking nuts (4).



Remove primary catalytic converter (3) with sealing ring

 Installation: Install new gasket

Ensure sealing ring is correctly seated.

Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near engine

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and inspect exhaust system around primary catalytic convertor (3) for leaks
