Before opening the hydraulic system the area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system. | |||

1 | Remove right headlamp unit | ||
2 | Suction off oil from expansion reservoir (6) | | |
3 | Detach right front wheel | ||
| Remove/install wheels | ||
4 | Remove the front and central sections of the lower engine compartment paneling | ||
5 | Remove right front section of front wheel well panel | ||
6 | Separate pressure line (2a) at separation point | See Remove/install hydraulic line of power steering. | |
7 | Detach molded hose (5) from electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) | ||
8 | Disconnect plug (1) and unclip electrical feed lines from bracket (3) | Replace cable ties. | |
9 | Unscrew bolts (4) and remove electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) with bracket (3) and pressure line (2b) | | |
10 | Detach pressure line (2b) | When replacing the electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) | |
11 | Install in the reverse order | ||
12 | Use STAR DIAGNOSIS to check electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) for up-to-date flashware, read out fault memory and erase if necessary | When replacing the electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) | |
| Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory | ||
