Remove/install

Raise vehicle

Detach lower engine compartment paneling

Unscrew nut (1) and detach tie rod from steering gear pitman arm (5)

See Remove/install tie rod.

Unscrew nut (2) and detach drag link from steering gear pitman arm (5)

 To move out the ball head steer the right-hand wheel completely to the right:

See Remove/install drag link.

Turn the left-hand wheel to the right

Turn the right wheel full to the right

Rotate the steering wheel to the center position

 Install support (3) on steering wheel and mount  torque wrench (4)

Checking

Determine the friction torque of the steering gear around the center position by slowly turning the steering wheel from lock to lock several times using the  torque wrench (4)
