Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Lift/jack up vehicle

Remove underride guard

Disconnect battery ground line

Code radio, set clock, normalize window regulators, and set timer for stationary heater (if fitted)

Remove oxidation catalytic converter or front exhaust system, respectively

Only on left side.

Remove air filter

Remove hot film mass air flow sensor with air intake pipe

Only on left side.

Remove fan shroud

Remove heater unit

Remove left charge air intake pipe (9)

Remove left bottom charge air pipe (8)

Take off heat shield at wheelhousing and frame

Unscrew nut (1) at exhaust manifold and bolt (2) of oil feed line (110/3) at cylinder head

Installing: Renew the O-ring on the oil feed line (110/3).

Replace self-locking nut (1).

Inspect stud bolt, replace if necessay.

Remove bolts (3) at oil drain line (110/4) at turbocharger (110) and pull oil drain line (110/4) out of engine

Collect oil which flows out in a suitable vessel.

Installing: Replace gasket (turbocharger side) and seal (engine side) of oil drain line (110/4).

Unscrew bolt (4) at support (5) at turbocharger (110)

Unscrew bolts (6) at turbocharger (110)

Separate plug connection (7) at turbocharger (110)

Take turbocharger (110) out to the rear

Unbolt oil feed line (110/3) at turbocharger (110)

Installation: Replace the gaskets.

Install in the reverse order

Inspect oil level, adjust to correct level if necessary
