Remove

Open engine compartment flap at rear

Remove interior compartment flap above engine

 See Operating Instructions

Remove cylinder head cover

Remove rocker arm assembly

Attach cranking/blocking device for engine

 Only required if the cylinder head is not removed

Move piston of the appropriate cylinder into TDC position

 Piston must be in TDC position to avoid the valves dropping into the cylinder.

Remove valve springs

 Cylinder head must not be removed.

Pull off valve stem seal (1)

 Do not damage valve guide (4).



Install

Oil valve stems (3) with engine oil

Fit sleeve (2) onto valve stem (3)



 The sleeve prevents a damage to the valve stem seal when installing.

Push new valve stem seal (1) over the sleeve (2) onto the valve guide (4)

 Push by hand with fitted drift up to the stop. Check valve stem seal (1) for tight seating at collar of valve guide.

Take sleeve (2) off valve stem (3)

Install valve springs

Set valve clearance



Take off cranking/blocking device for engine

 Because of risk of accident, the cranking/blocking device must be removed before starting the engine.
