Remove bolts for propeller shaft intermediate bearing (106a).

 Installation: Only tighten the bolts of the propeller shaft intermediate bearing after attaching the flexible coupling to the rear axle differential.



Remove rear propeller shaft assembly (106) from rear axle differential.

 Flex disk remains on propeller shaft.



Loosen fitting sleeves on flexible couplings.

 Tie up propeller shaft to one side.

Drift for loosening fitting sleeves in flex disks.

Remove rear axle shafts (37) from connecting flange

 Move rear axle shaft so that is roughly horizontal and then push together.

Secure rear axle shaft at rear axle carrier.

 Installation: Replace self-locking multipoint, hexagon socket or Torx bolts and washers.

Lightly oil bolts at thread and bolt head contact surface.



Check oil level in rear axle differential and correct if necessary

 Mixing of old universal hypoid gear oil and the new FE hypoid gear oil should be avoided due to the better fuel economy.
