Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Remove bottom engine compartment paneling

Only model 636,

Perform on model 639.7/8 as of vehicle identification number (VIN) 055347.

Remove cover (1)

Only perform without CODE (ZG2) Permanent all-wheel drive.

Only perform without CODE (ZG2) Permanent all-wheel drive.

Install retaining lock (3 or 5)

Allow to engage in starter ring gear; crank the engine at crankshaft in direction of engine rotation if necessary.

For vehicles without CODE (ZG2) Permanent all-wheel drive, bolts (4) (M690) for attaching the retaining lock (3).
