The oil separator (Y636) is located on the right side of the engine above the turbocharger for the high pressure stage.
Task
The boost pressure regulator (Y636) serves as the actuator for the electronic boost pressure control. On request by the engine management (MCM) control unit (A4) the boost pressure regulator (Y636) actuates the boost pressure control flap over a linkage. Dependent on the position of the boost pressure control flap either the whole exhaust is sent to the turbine of the turbocharger for the high pressure stage or a part is diverted to the turbine of the turbocharger for the low pressure stage.
The boost pressure regulator (Y636) is cooled with coolant.
