Remove/install

Remove back shell from respective backrest

Disconnect battery ground line

Remove electrical connector (4) from backrest frame (3)

Detach backrest cover (2) in area of sidebag unit (1) at backrest frame (3) far enough to gain access to the electrical connector (6)

Disconnect electrical connector (6)

Unscrew nuts (5)

Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts

Nut, sidebag unit to backrest frame

Lift backrest cover (2) off the backrest frame (3), disassemble and remove sidebag unit (1) from backrest cover (2)

Dispose of sidebag unit (1) properly

If the sidebag unit (1) is replaced.

Install in the reverse order

Check

Check Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) with diagnostic system

If the sidebag unit (1) was replaced.
