Remove

Open engine hood

Replace engine hood lifter

After triggering of pedestrian protection.

Reverse engine hood, connecting engine hood hinge upper part with engine hood hinge lower part to do so

 Press engine hood down until engine hood hinge upper part audibly engages in slot of engine hood hinge lower part.

Remove screw/bolt (2) and remove deformation element (deformed)



Install

Paint outside of deformation element (new) (1)

 Cover contact surface of inside to engine hood hinge upper part.

Install deformation element (new) (1) with screw/bolt (2)

 Pay attention to correct and flat installation position of deformation element (new) (1). The cutout must engage in the guide pin.

 Adapt color of screw/bolt bolt head (2).

 Bolt, hinge damper to engine hood hinge

Coat deformation element (new) (1) and screw/bolt (2) with anti-corrosion wax (brush)

 Protect adjacent areas, e.g. engine compartment, against anti-corrosion wax, cover if necessary.

Cavity preservation, solvent-free (1 l container)

Check gap dimension from engine hood to fender

AR88.40-P-3020W

 Adjust if necessary.
