Remove left side trim panel (1) or right side trim panel (2) in rear compartment

On vehicles without code (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series".

Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit

On vehicles with code (889) Keyless-Go, press KEYLESS-GO start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off.

Remove Keyless-Go chip card or transmitter key from vehicle and store beyond the reach of the transmitter (at least 2 m).

Disconnect electrical connector (3) from left sidebag sensor (A53) or electrical connector (5) from right sidebag sensor (A54)

Remove bolts (4 or 6) and remove left sidebag sensor (A53) or right sidebag sensor (A54)

Installation: The arrows on the left sidebag sensor (A53) or the right sidebag sensor (A54) must point outwards.

Install in the reverse order

Check supplemental restraint system (SRS) with the aid of STAR DIAGNOSIS

Only when the left sidebag sensor (A53) or right sidebag sensor (A54) has been removed.

Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
