Remove/install

Remove seat backrest trim.

Disconnect ground line on battery.

Disconnect electrical connection (2).

Release catch hook (4).

Unhook gas generator (3) with bracket (6) from seat backrest shell (5) and guide out as shown.

Installation: Ensure correct seating of the gas generator (3) in the seat backrest shell (5).

Detach electrical connector (7).

Remove retaining ring (8).

Installation:
Check retaining ring (8) is correctly seated.
Otherwise, a malfunction of the PRE-SAFE® pulse side may occur.

Press ring (9) in direction of gas generator (3).

Pull pressure line (10) out of gas generator (3).

Installation:
Ensure correct seating of pressure line (10).
Otherwise, a malfunction of the PRE-SAFE® pulse side may occur.

Install in the reverse order

Check

Check Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) using vehicle diagnosis system.
