Remove/install

Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2  m)

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery

Remove cover of center console

Remove ashtray housing with stowage compartment from front of center console

Disconnect electrical connector (1) on emergency tensioning retractor (ETR [GUS]) with airbag (AB) control unit (N2/2)

Remove bolts (2)

 Installation:
Make sure that the ground line (3) is secured properly to the restraint systems control unit ground point (W26) on the emergency tensioning retractor (ETR [GUS]) with airbag (AB) control unit (N2/2) (under the left rear corner).
Otherwise correct operation of the emergency tensioning retractor (ETR [GUS]) with airbag (AB) control unit (N2/2) cannot be guaranteed.

Remove emergency tensioning retractor (ETR [GUS]) with airbag (AB) control unit (N2/2)

Install in the reverse order

Initial startup

Perform initial startup of emergency tensioning retractor (ETR [GUS]) with airbag (AB) control unit (N2/2)

When replacing the emergency tensioning retractor (ETR [GUS]) with airbag (AB) control unit (N2/2).


