1 | Remove left and right center pillar trims. |
2 | Remove footrest in front passenger footwell. |
3 | Check whether the color coding on the wire rope (green or yellow) is still visible. |
For emergency tensioning retractor with color coding. |
If no color coding is identifiable. |
|
Replace emergency tensioning retractor. |
4 | Remove rubber protective cap from tube end. |
For emergency tensioning retractor without color coding. |
5 | Insert screwdriver with diameter of approx. 10 mm into the end of the emergency tensioning retractor tube and determine dimension (X). |
For emergency tensioning retractor without color coding. |
If the measured distance is shorter than the value specified in the table. |
|
Replace emergency tensioning retractor. |
6 | Using the inspection window, check whether the wire rope is visible. |
For emergency tensioning retractors in the 2nd and 3rd version with an inspection window. |
If no wire rope is visible in the inspection window. |
|
Replace emergency tensioning retractor. |
7 | Check total resistance of emergency tensioning retractor squibs (R12/1, R12/2) at both assigned contacts of 4-pin test connection (X29). |
Total resistance value incorrect. |
|
Check resistance of left emergency tensioning retractor squibs (R12/1) and right emergency tensioning retractor squibs (R12/2) with multimeter and measurement cable. |
Total resistance value correct. |
|
End of test. |
8 | Release and disconnect electrical connector for left emergency tensioning retractor squibs (R12/1) and right emergency tensioning retractor squibs (R12/2). |
9 | Check resistance of left emergency tensioning retractor squibs (R12/1) and right emergency tensioning retractor squibs (R12/2) with multimeter and measurement cable. |
Resistance value incorrect. |
|
