Risk of injury caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units.

Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.

Remove left and right paneling from C-pillar

Connect ground line to starter battery and to on-board electrical system battery

Unscrew bolt (5) from belt end fitting (6)



Remove bolt (2) from automatic belt retractor (1)



Disconnect left rear ETR squib connector (R12/6x1) or right rear ETR squib connector (R12/7x1) from automatic belt retractor (1).

Remove seatbelt (4) from belt guide and remove automatic belt retractor (1).

 Installation: Ensure that left and right automatic belt retractor (1) are installed correct and note different version.Do not install seatbelt (4) when twisted.

If the automatic belt retractor (1) is replaced, the faulty automatic belt retractor (1) must be disposed of properly.
