Remove front seat armrest

Remove both head restraint guides from front seat

Disconnect battery ground line

Disconnect electrical connection (3)

 Installation:
Observe installation position of electrical wiring harness (4).
Otherwise, the electrical wiring harness (4) may become jammed or pinched when adjusting the backrest.

Disconnect electrical connection (5)

Remove cover of mounting bracket for Tablet PC holder

Unhook all tabs (arrows) of backrest cover (2)

 Installation: Ensure correct seating of backrest cover (2).

Detach backrest cover (2) far enough from backrest frame (6) until the electrical connector (7) on the sidebag unit (9) is accessible

Disconnect electrical connector (7) from sidebag unit (9)

Unscrew nuts (8)



Unhook threaded pin (11) of sidebag unit (9) from backrest frame (6)

Remove backrest cover (2) with backrest padding (1) from backrest frame (6)

Remove sidebag unit (9) from bag (10)

Detach backrest cover (2) at side from backrest padding (1) and turn upside down

 Installation: Ensure that backrest cover (2) is seated correctly on backrest padding (1).

Unclip staple edge stripping (12) from hooks (13)

 Installation: Ensure that backrest cover (2) is seated correctly on backrest padding (1).

Remove driver seat backrest seat ventilation motors (M18/10) or front passenger seat backrest seat ventilation motors (M18/12) from backrest padding (1)

When replacing the backrest padding (1).

Install in the reverse order


