Remove/install hydraulic cylinder for remote trunk closing

Remove paneling from trunk lid (2)

Place suitable protector on Vario roof front section laid down in trunk

 The protector prevents Vario roof front section from being soiled or damaged by falling objects.

Expose concealed electrical connector (arrow) and disconnected

When removing left remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1).

Remove hydraulic lines (3) from trunk lid (2)

 When removing left remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1), expose lines no. 121 and 131.
When removing right remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1), expose lines no. 120 and 130.

Remove electrical line (4) on trunk lid position sensor (B24/16) from trunk lid (2)

When removing left remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1).

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid.

Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove hydraulic lines (3) from hydraulic distributor (6)

 When removing left remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1), disconnect lines no. 121 and 131.
When removing right remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1), disconnect lines no. 120 and 130.

 Installation: Observe connection coding on hydraulic lines (3).



Plug open connections on hydraulic distributor (6) and hydraulic lines (3) disconnected



Release retainers (7) on upper and lower eye on remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1) with suitable screwdriver (8) and simultaneously press corresponding eye on remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1) toward center of vehicle

 Installation: Replace damaged retainers (7).
Observe installation position of retainers (7), because they only fit at a certain position on the mounts on the hinge bracket (5).

Remove remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1) from hinge bracket (5)

Unscrew bolt (9) and remote trunk lid position sensor (B24/16) from remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1)

When replacing left remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1).

Install in the reverse order

Check oil level of RVC hydraulic unit, correct if necessary

Normalize remote trunk closing

When replacing left remote trunk closing hydraulic cylinder (1).

 If the remote trunk closing has already been normalized, first denormalize with STAR DIAGNOSIS before normalizing again.



Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
