Only remove and install pneumatic springs when they are not under tension and when the components are properly secured.

Remove/install

Open engine hood

Remove air ventilation segment (2) from engine hood (1)

 Only on right side of vehicle.

Detach cover (3) from engine hood (1) until connection piece (5) is accessible

 Only on right side of vehicle.

Separate hose (4) from connection element (5)

Remove cable tie (6) and lay hose (4) down to side

Detach retainers (7), remove gas-filled struts (8) and (9) from engine hood (1) and lay down toward front


Do not remove retainers (7)!
Otherwise the tension of the retainers (7) can be lost.

 Helper required.

 Installation: Clip gas-filled struts (8) and (9) into engine hood (1) with retainers (7) installed.

Loosen bolts (10) and (12), unscrew bolts (11) and (13) and remove engine hood (1)

 Unscrew bolts (10) and (12) approx. 3 turns.

 Helper required.

 Bolt, hinge to engine hood

Install in the reverse order



Check

Check gap dimensions of engine hood (1), adjust if necessary.
