Remove

Remove expansion valve.

Install adapter (1) with adapter hose in place of expansion valve with new sealing rings (2, 6).

 Use adapter hose from  Adapter set (221 589 00 91 00).
Use adapter (1) from  Adapter set (222 589 00 91 00).

Connect leak tester to adapter hose.



Fill evaporator with forming gas and check for leak tightness.

 Pay attention to the leak tester operator's manual.
Do not fill evaporator with forming gas unless engine is cold.

 Temperature changes during the pressure test (e.g. because of change in weather or cooling down of the engine compartment) can cause pressure fluctuations.
Consistent ambient conditions must therefore be strictly ensured.

If a leakage is present,



replace evaporator.

Disconnect leak tester unit from adapter hose.

Remove adapter hose and adapter (1).



Install

7

Install expansion valve with new sealing rings (2, 6).
