1.1 | Temporarily store basic data from the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) in STAR DIAGNOSIS | When replacing the COMAND controller unit (A40/3). Installation: Transfer temporarily stored basic data to the new COMAND controller unit (A40/3). | |
| Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory | ||

2 | Switch off ignition and withdraw transmitter key or Keyless Go start/stop button from the EIS [EZS] control unit | Keyless Go start/stop button only for vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go. | |
3 | Remove cover for upper control panel control unit. | ||
4 | Loosen bolts (1) | Screws (1) remain in the COMAND controller unit (A40/3). | |
5 | Remove COMAND control unit (A40/3) from instrument panel and disconnect electrical connector at rear of COMAND control unit (A40/3). | Installation: Carefully slide COMAND control unit (A40/3) into instrument panel to prevent damaging electric leads and fiber optic cables. | |
