Danger!

Risk of injury caused by body parts being trapped or crushed when working on a partially open Vario roof (in stop mode) or in its closing area as a result of the Vario roof suddenly collapsing

Secure Vario roof with a suitable special tool.

Move Vario roof to intermediate position with Vario roof operating switch and secure

Unclip cover (2) from C-pillar top section (1)

 Clip remover

Unclip line bracket (3)

Separate water drain hose (4) (arrow)

Unscrew bolt (5), leave threaded bushing (6) inserted.

 Press bolt (5) toward center of vehicle when screwing out. Otherwise, the bolt (5) can damage the side seal on the Vario roof front section.

 Screwdriver bit

Unscrew nuts (7), leave bolts (8) inserted.

Unscrew bolt (9)

 Installation: Apply thread locking agent.

Quick-acting adhesive, Loctite 270

Pull out threaded bushing (6)

Remove bolts (8)

 Installation: Apply thread locking agent.

Install in the reverse order

 Installation: When replacing C-pillar top section (1): 

Replace inner C-pillar seal

Replace outer C-pillar seal

Check position of rear window, adjust if necessary
