Risk of injury Gas pressure struts are under high pressure and can pinch and crush body parts during work

Remove and install gas pressure struts only in relaxed position and on components properly secured.

Remove rear roof frame trim

Slightly slacken bolts (1) at body shell on the left and right

Check gap dimensions of the rear-end door, adjust if necessary

Screw bolts tightly (1) on body on left and right



Slightly slacken upper and lower retaining springs (2) at the gas-operated strut (3) on left and right

Unhook gas-operated strut (3) out of ball head on the body and rear-end door on left and right and remove

Slightly slacken bolts (4) of upper hinge at the rear-end door on left and right

Check gap dimensions of the rear-end door, adjust if necessary

Screw bolts (4) of upper hinge on the rear-end door on left and right



Mark sealing lip (5) with chalk and close the upper rear-end door for a brief moment and check the imprint of the sealing lip (5) on the wiper motor cover

 The sealing lip (5) of the rear-end door seal must be seated below the recess for the grommet (6) on the even surface of the wiper motor cover, otherwise there is danger that the sealing lip (5) does not seal properly.

Press gas-operated strut (3) onto the ball head on the body and rear-end door

 Installation: Observe installation position of the gas-operated strut (3).

Slightly slacken bolts (7) at rear spoiler (8) on inside and outside

 The rear spoiler (8) must lie in one surface plane in relation to the roof and the C-pillar cover (arrows). Gap dimensions, see:
