Remove/install stone chipping protective cover

Remove

Stone chipping protective cover (1) and pull off of rear door (2).

Hot-air gun

Install

Clean mounting location on rear door (2) with lubricant and soft, lint-free rag.

 Do not touch cleaned surface. Finger prints and dirt can remain visible after assembly and permanent gluing of the stone chipping protective cover (1) is not ensured.

Spray lubricant to mounting location on rear door (3)

Remove protective foil from gluing surface on stone chipping protective cover (1) and spray lubricant to gluing surface.

Align stone chipping protective cover (1) along rear door (2) and position.

 Do not press on with hand or fingers.This leaves permanent imprints on stone chipping protective cover (1).

 The stone chipping protective cover (1) attaches itself to the rear door (2).
The distance of the stone chipping protective cover (1) to the rear and lower edge of the rear door (2) should not be more than max. 2 mm.

Press center area (marked surface) of the stone chipping protective cover (1) down with squeegee (3) by moving squeegee (3) toward outside in the longitudinal direction.

 Rear door (2) must be closed.Firmly press on squeegee (3).Press lubricant out of center area (marked area) on stone chipping protective cover (1).

Press out lubricant starting at area of stone chipping protective cover (1) already fastened (marked surface) with overlapping strokes (arrows B, C)

 Firmly press on squeegee (3). Press out lubricant upwards, downwards and to side.

Remove outer protective foil downward vertically from stone chipping protective cover (1)

 If the stone chipping protective cover (1) detaches from the rear door (2), immediately press on with squeegee (3).

Check stone chipping protective cover (1) for correct seat, damage, bubbles or inclusions, rework if necessary.

 Always moisten fingers before removing stone chipping protective cover (1) for correction.Otherwise permanent gluing is not ensured.

Clean stone chipping protective cover (1) and rear door (2) with soft and lint-free rag.
