Removing

Preheat adhesive cartridge

 Remove adhesive cartridge from repair kit, insert unopened into cartridge preheater and switch on cartridge preheater The preheating time is at least 20 minutes.

Cover dashboard with suitable protective cover

 For protection against damage from glass splinters.

Remove paneling on A-pillar.

Remove inside rearview mirror

Remove sun visors

Remove side handle

Detach headliner at the side on the beading and lift up slightly

 Move plastic wedge in between.

Remove left and right wiper arm (5)

Remove water channel on belt rail (4)

 Except in Model 638.094/194/294 unscrew screws below cap.

Remove outer A-pillar paneling (2) at left and right

Remove rubber cover (3)

 Danger!

Risk of injury due to tear or warming up of cutting wire and through glass splinters when cutting out glued windows

Wear protective gloves and safety glasses.

Cut out windshield (1) using cutting wire and remove

Cut glue residues off of body flange

 Cut residual adhesive material back by approx. 1 mm (remove any loose residual adhesive material).

Install

Prepare body flange for installation of window

 Apply primer to body flange (only on primed surface)



General notes about painting the body flange in the glazing area

Pay attention to notes concerning the preparation of new parts such as the A-pillar, the roof or the side walls.

Glue windshield rubber spacers onto body flange

 Do not remove protective foil.

Prepare adhesive cartridge

 Before inserting cartridge into cartridge gun, remove red circlip from adhesive cartridge and move pressure piston slide of cartridge gun completely back (see operating instructions).

Position windshield (1) with aid of helper, align and press on

 Open side window on vehicle, to ensure that the windshield (1) is not pressed outwards when the door is closed during the curing time by air pressure.

 Allow glue to air-dry for at least 24 h. Secure windshield (1) using suitable adhesive tape against falling down.

Remove protective cover from instrument panel

Install outer A-pillar paneling (2) at left and right

Install water channel on belt rail (4)

 To avoid pressure zones, check for unobstructed movement between the water channel on the belt rail (4) and the windshield (1),if necessary, machine water channel on belt rail (4).

 Except in Model 638.094/194/294 fasten screws below cap.

 Observe curing time before installation of the water channel on the belt rail (4).

Install left and right wiper arm (5)
