The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

Mark connecting points on sidewall paneling (1) and cut (areas A and B).

Transfer separation points from vehicle.

Grind mating surfaces on side wall paneling section (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

Remove shavings and drill chips.

Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

Do not coat bonding surface (area C) with zinc dust paint.
Otherwise there may be adhesion problems.

Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (area C).

Drill holes for MAG welding on side wall paneling section (2) (area D).

Grind down mating surfaces to bare metal on sidewall paneling section (2) in crosshatched areas and around the holes (area D).

Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

Remove shavings and drill chips.

Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

Do not coat bonding surface (area E) with zinc dust paint.
Otherwise there may be adhesion problems.

Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (area E).

Grind mating surfaces on lock striker reinforcement (3) down to bare metal in the crosshatched areas.

Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

Remove shavings and drill chips.

Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

Install lock striker reinforcement (3) on side wall paneling section (2), fit and fix in place.

Lock striker reinforcement (3) (area F).

Clean weld joints.

Remove shavings and drill chips.
