3.1 | Remove diagonal strut | Only model 450.4. | |

4 | remove fuel cooler | Remove fuel cooler only as far as is necessary to access the feed-through for the wiring harness in the battery recess. | |
5 | Remove all fixings on the interior heater/engine preheating wiring harness (1) | Installation: The interior heater/engine preheating wiring harness (1) must be routed and fixed in position so that damage and vibration noises are to be ruled out. | |
6 | Pull the interior heater/engine preheating wiring harness (1) out of the opening in the battery recess | Installation: Pay attention to the correct seat of the rubber grommet (4). Leakages are to be prevented. | |
7 | Remove bolt (6), ground connection branch-off line (1.1) on crossmember, center underbody (7) | | |
8 | Remove bolts (2) and remove the plug coupling of the interior heater/engine preheating (1) from the recess in the module carrier (3) | Do not damage the A/C and coolant hoses while doing so. | |

9 | Disconnect wiring harness for interior heater/engine preheating (1) from heating element (8) | Installation: Pay attention to correct seat of sealing bellows (9). | |
If the sealing ring (9) is damaged, the heating element (8) must be replaced. See: | |||
Remove/install the heating element for engine preheating | |||
10 | Remove interior heater/engine preheating wiring harness (1) from the area of the unterbody | Installation: The interior heater/engine preheating wiring harness (1) must be routed and fixed in position so that damage and vibration noises are to be ruled out. | |
11 | Install in the reverse order |
