 Danger

Risk of fire/risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC.

No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Remove front floor covering

Remove screws (2)

Loosen nut (13) and remove ground line (14)

 Nut, battery clamp to negative pole/positive pole of on-board electrical system battery/auxiliary battery

Mark position of electric lines (7)

Detach electric lines (7) and remove from working area

 Installation:
Note marking for electric lines (7).
Otherwise, the electric lines (7) may be swapped when connected and therefore cause damage to the electrical system.

 Installation: Note torque specification on housing of prefuse box (1).

 The number of electric lines (7) can vary depending on the vehicle equipment.

Mark position of electric lines (8)

Detach electric lines (8) and remove from working area

 Installation:
Note marking for electric lines (8).
Otherwise, the electric lines (8) may be swapped when connected and therefore cause damage to the electrical system.

 Installation: Note torque specification on housing of prefuse box (1).

 The number of electric lines (8) can vary depending on the vehicle equipment.

Disconnect electrical connection (9)

Unclip electrical connector (10) from prefuse box (1)

Disconnect electrical connection (10)

Fold up positive pole cover (5)

Detach electric line (12)

 Installation: Note torque specification on housing of prefuse box (1).

Release and disconnect electrical connector (11) of pyrofuse in direction of arrow (arrow A)

If installed.

Unfasten nut (6)

 Nut, battery clamp to negative pole/positive pole of on-board electrical system battery/auxiliary battery

Slacken nut (15)

 Installation: Note torque specification on housing of prefuse box (1).

 Loosening the nut (15) allows the prefuse box (1) to move on the on-board electrical system battery (4).

Release prefuse box (1) through the opening (16) with a suitable screwdriver at the catch hook (17) and lightly lift in the rear area

 Installation: The prefuse box (1) must engage audibly on the on-board electrical system battery (4).
Make sure that the prefuse box (1) is correctly seated on the on-board electrical system battery (4).

Push prefuse box (1) forward in direction of arrow (arrows B) until catch hooks (18) no longer engage on the on-board electrical system battery (4)


Handle prefuse box (1) carefully.
Otherwise damage to the prefuse box (1) or to the electrical system of the vehicle may occur.

Remove prefuse box (1) upward from the on-board electrical system battery (4)

Install in the reverse order
