 Warning

Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

Remove temperature sensor upstream of gasoline particulate filter (B163/4) and secure on vehicle so that free of tension.

Remove screw (16).

Remove the union nuts of the lines (8) from the gasoline particulate filter (9) and place the lines (8) to one side.


Do no kink, crush or subject lines (8) to tension.
This results in damage and function impairments.

Seal openings with suitable stop plug.

Remove nut (3).

When replacing exhaust system and/or elastomer bearings.

Unscrew screws (5) and remove rear reinforcement (4).

 Screw, center cross strut (rear) to frame floor assembly

Remove nuts from bolts (10).

 Nut, center exhaust system holder to front axle carrier

Remove screws (11).

 Installation: Ensure new seal is correctly seated on front flange.

 Installation: Replace seal at front flange.

Secure the exhaust system against falling down, lift the exhaust system at the front via the bolts (10) and remove it.



Remove the front elastomer bearings with the brackets from the exhaust system.

When replacing exhaust system and/or elastomer bearings.



Clean

Remove combustion and corrosion residues at front flange.



Check

Check the front and rear elastomer bearings for wear and damage, and replace them if necessary.

Install in the reverse order.



Check

Check installation position and unobstructed movement of exhaust system and correct if necessary.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run to check exhaust system for leaks.
