Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

Remove/install

Release and disconnect electrical connector of center exhaust gas flap actuator motor (M16/55)

2

Unclip electric line of left exhaust gas flap actuator motor (M16/55) from bracket

3

Support the center exhaust system (1)



Remove clamps (2).

 Installation: Replace clamps (2).

 Clamp, front exhaust system to center exhaust system

Remove clamps (3)

 Installation: Replace clamps (3).

 Clamp, center exhaust system to rear exhaust system

Remove elastomer bearings (4) from center exhaust system (1)

 Installation: Wet elastomer bearing (4) with lubricant.

Lubricant, rubber assembly 1 l

Remove center exhaust system (1) in downward direction

Modify center exhaust gas flap actuator motor (M16/55)

When replacing center exhaust system (1).

Remove combustion and corrosion residues at flange connections

Check elastomer bearings (4) for wear and damage

In case of a complaint



Replace elastomer bearings (4).

Install in the reverse order

Check installation position and unobstructed movement of center exhaust system (1)

In case of a complaint



Realign center exhaust system (1).

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
