 Warning

Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.

Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

Remove/install

Remove the rear engine support.

 Installation: Only install lower center and rear engine compartment lining again after leak test.

Remove screw (7).

 Perform operation step at both gasoline particulate filters.

Unscrew union nuts (8), seal exposed openings with suitable stop plugs and place pressure lines (9) to one side.

Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths

Remove clamps (2).

 Installation: Replace seals.

If the clamps (2) are damaged or weakened by corrosion,



Replace clamps (2).

Release, disconnect electrical connectors (5) and remove wiring harness from exhaust system (1).

 The number of electrical connectors (5) varies depending on the vehicle equipment.

Release, disconnect electrical connector (10) and remove wiring harness from exhaust system (1).

Remove screws (3) and support exhaust system (1) in the rear area.



Remove screws (4) and lower exhaust system (1) in the front area and remove it.

 Aid of helper required.

Remove combustion and corrosion residues.

Check elastomer bearings (6) for damage.

If the elastomer bearings (6) are damaged,



Replace corresponding elastomer bearings (6).

Install in the reverse order.

Check installation position and clearance of exhaust system(1) and correct if necessary.

Read out and delete fault memory.



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run; check engine for proper operation and check exhaust system (1) for leak tightness.

Install bottom center and rear engine compartment paneling.
