Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove bracket (3)

Installation: Replace self-locking bolt and nut of bracket (3).

Lower vehicle

Remove trim panel of cylinder head cover (1)

Loosen connector for O2 sensor upstream of TWC (G3/2x1) from bracket and disconnect

Remove clamp (5)

Unscrew bolt (6) and remove catalytic converter (4) with sealing ring from above

Installation: Install new self-locking bolt (6)

Unscrew the O2 sensor upstream of TWC [KAT] (G3/2) at the catalytic converter (4)

When replacing catalytic converter (4).

Install in the reverse order

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the running engine

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and inspect exhaust system around catalytic convertor (4) for leaks

Read out fault memory

Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
