No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.

Remove/install

Switch off the ignition and keep the transmitter key outside the transmitter range (at minimum   2m).

Remove underfloor paneling at left.

 Installation: Install left underfloor paneling only after the leak test.

Disconnect electrical connection (2).

Clean fuel lines (3) in area of separating points.

Release fuel lines (3) from the connection fittings, detach, and capture escaping fuel with absorbent rags.

Seal openings in fuel lines (3) with clean stop plugs.

Remove screws (4) and remove fuel filter housing (1).

 Screw/bolt, fuel filter housing to bracket

Install in the reverse order



Check

Switch on ignition.


Before the engine is started, leave the ignition switched on until the end of delivery from the fuel pump to ensure that fuel is present at the fuel high-pressure pump when the engine is started.
Fuel system will otherwise be damaged.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check leak tightness of fuel system.
