3 | Remove underride guard (1) | ||
4 | Disconnect electrical connectors (3, 4, 5) on fuel prefilter with fuel pump and heated water separator (A78) | ||
5 | Close off fuel hoses (6, 7, 8) using clamps | | |
6 | Disconnect fuel hoses (6, 7, 8) on fuel prefilter with fuel pump and heated water separator (A78) | Collect fuel which flows out in a suitable vessel. | |
7 | Remove fuel prefilter with fuel pump and heated water separator (A78) | Unscrew bolts (2) and catch escaping fuel in a suitable vessel. | |
8 | Install in reverse order | ||
9 | Start engine and check fuel system for leaks | ||
10 | Carry out function test of indicator lamp of fuel filter water level sensor | The indicator lamp is located in the lower control panel of the center console. The indicator lamp must light up briefly after switching on ignition. | |
11 | Read out fault memory and erase | STAR DIAGNOSIS | |
| Connect up STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory | ||
