Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove/install

Empty the fuel tank (1).

Unscrew bolts (2) and remove left reinforcement (3).

Unscrew bolts (4) and remove right reinforcement (5).

Remove filler neck with bleed line for fuel tank.

Release and disconnect electrical connector (6) at fuel system control unit (N118).

Unclip cable bracket (7).

Release and disconnect connections (8) from activated charcoal canister (9).

Seal exposed openings with suitable stop plugs.

Release and disconnect fuel feed line (11).

Seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

Remove screws (10).

 Bolt, fuel tank/tensioning strap for fuel tank to body

Lower fuel tank (1) and remove.



Check

Perform visual check on fuel tank (1) and its connection and check for crack formation and damage.

If there are problems,



Replace appropriate parts.

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.
