Remove

1

Extract oil from expansion reservoir of power-steering pump.


Thoroughly clean area around separating point before opening hydraulic system.
Otherwise, minute dirt particles may enter the hydraulic system and cause malfunctions in the hydraulic system.

Remove high-pressure hose line (2) to power-steering pump.

 Collect escaping oil in a suitable vessel.



Check

Mount connection fitting (3) to high-pressure hose line (2).

Mount connection fitting (5) to connection on power-steering pump (1).

 Connection fitting

Mount test equipment (4) between connection fitting (3) and connection fitting (5) and open throttle valve.

Fill hydraulic power steering and bleed.

Run engine at an engine speed of approx. 1000 rpm.

Close throttle valve and check oil pressure.


Run check for brief period only.
This is to prevent the oil temperature from rising to an impermissible level.

replace power steering pump.

Mount high-pressure hose line (2) to power-steering pump.

Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths
