Remove/install hydraulic line of power steering

Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid.

Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.

Before opening the hydraulic system, thoroughly clean the area surrounding the separation point. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system

Open engine hood

Remove front engine cover

Remove left engine intake air duct upstream of air filter

Extract oil from power steering reservoir (8)

 Hand pump

Raise vehicle with lifting platform

Remove engine compartment paneling

Cut tie strap (arrow) and disconnect plug from SPS solenoid valve (Y10)

Unscrew bolt (1) of high-pressure expansion hose (4)



Unscrew bolt (2) and remove hydraulic line (3) with high-pressure expansion hose (4) from rack-and-pinion steering

  Seal off line connections using plugs.



 Installation: Replace O-rings

Detach high-pressure expansion hose (4) from oil pan by unscrewing the bolt (5)



Disconnect high-pressure expansion hose (4) from power steering pump



Remove high-pressure expansion hose (4) downwards

Install in the reverse order

Fill power steering pump and bleed

Check function of power steering and for leaks
