Remove/install hydraulic line of power steering

Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid.

Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.

Before opening the hydraulic system, thoroughly clean the area surrounding the separation point. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system

Open engine hood

Remove front engine cover

Remove engine trim panel

Remove left engine intake air duct upstream of air filter

Extract oil from power steering reservoir (8)



Raise vehicle with lifting platform

Remove engine compartment paneling

Remove noise encapsulation

Detach hydraulic line (3) from front axle carrier; to do so, remove bolt (9)

Cut tie strap (arrow) and disconnect plug from SPS solenoid valve (Y10)

Unscrew bolt (2) and remove hydraulic line (3) from rack-and-pinion steering

  Seal off line connections using plugs.



 Installation: Replace O-ring.



Disconnect hydraulic line (3) from power steering radiator (6)

  Seal off line connections using plugs. Check condition of hose clamp and hydraulic line, replace if necessary.



Remove hydraulic line (3) downwards

Install in the reverse order

Fill power steering pump and bleed

Check function of power steering and for leaks
