Disconnect electrical connector (2) from combination switch and electrical connector (3) from wiper switch

Remove screws of upper bearing shell (4) and remove upper bearing shell (4)

Detach main wiring harness from steering strut (5)

Remove screws of steering strut (5) and remove steering strut (5)

Unscrew nut (7) of steering coupling (6) and remove cam bolt (8)


Only the cam bolt (8) and nut (7) approved for model 452 may be used.
Bolts and nuts of other models with the same dimensions have different properties due to other surface coatings and may impair the strength of the bolted connection.

 When the nut (7) has been slackened, the cam bolt (8) rotates with it approx. half a revolution. However, it is not necessary to counterhold the cam bolt (8).

Pull steering column tube (1) off rack-and-pinion steering (9) and pull out upwards through the interior



Install

Position steering column tube (1) on rack-and-pinion steering (9) from above

 Make sure that the grommet (10) is seated correctly.

Insert cam bolt (8) into steering coupling (6) and screw on nut (7) loosely


Replace self-locking nut (7) and cam bolt (8).
Only the cam bolt (8) and nut (7) approved for model 452 may be used.
Bolts and nuts of other models with the same dimensions have different properties due to other surface coatings and may impair the strength of the bolted connection.

Position steering strut (5) and tighten screws of steering strut (5)


Replace screws of steering strut (5).

 The screws of the steering strut (5) are self-tapping, so it is not necessary to pre-tap a thread.
Tighten screws of steering strut (5) in increments of one revolution.

Position main wiring harness on steering strut (5) and fasten with cable ties

 Replace cable tie.

Position upper bearing shell (4) and tighten screws of upper bearing shell (4)


Replace screws of upper bearing shell (4).

 The screws of the upper bearing shell (4) are self-tapping, so it is not necessary to pre-tap a thread.
Tighten screws of upper bearing shell (4) in increments of one revolution.
