Remove/install

Remove upper engine cover.



 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Remove cover for air/water duct.

Unclip cover (1) (arrows) and remove.

Unclip inerting system line from partition (2).

Unclip electrical wiring harness (3) from partition (2).

Remove screws (4) and remove partition (2) upwards.

 Installation: Ensure that partition (2) is seated correctly in lower part of partition.

 Screw, upper engine compartment partition to lower engine compartment partition

Remove vacuum line (5) from vacuum pump (6) and unhook from holder (7).

Detach vacuum hose (8) from vacuum pump (6) and unhook from holder (7).

Remove screws (9) and remove holder (7).

 Screw, holder to vacuum pump

Remove screws (10, 11, 12, 13) in numerical sequence.

 Installation: Screw in screws (10, 11, 12, 13) in reverse numerical sequence.

 Bolt, vacuum pump to cylinder head/cylinder head cover

Remove vacuum pump (6).

 Installation: Replace seal.
Pay attention to position of driver of vacuum pump (6).



Clean

Clean sealing surfaces.

Assembly cleaner

Check

Check sealing surfaces for damage.

If damage is found,



Replace cylinder head or vacuum pump (6).

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run; in this connection, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.
