Remove the front section of the lower engine compartment paneling

Vehicles with gasoline engine

Remove front section of soundproofing bottom section

Vehicles with diesel engines

Using a screwdriver, push detent (2) upwards and pull rpm sensor connector (signals) (X62) out of the bracket (1) in the direction of the arrow

Unplug rpm sensor connector (signals) (X62)

Unclip electric lead from retaining clamps

 Installation: Ensure lines are installed correctly.

Unscrew bolt (6a)

 Installation: Install new bolt (6a).



Pull rpm sensor (L6/1, L6/2) out of steering knuckle (5)

 Installation: Pay attention to installation position. The chafe protection (3) must be mounted on the front rpm sensor (L6/1, L6/2). It must not be mounted between the rpm sensor (L6/1, L6/2) and steering knuckle (5), otherwise the rpm sensor (L6/1, L6/2) will not deliver an rpm signal.

Install in the reverse order

Read out diagnostic trouble code memory using STAR DIAGNOSIS and erase if necessary
