1 | Connect vehicle diagnosis system and move parking brake into assembly position. | Model 447.8, 448.8 | |
| Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory | ||
To do so, follow the procedure in the menu "Electric parking brake (EFB) control unit". | |||
2 | Remove respective brake disk on rear axle. | ||
3 | Unhook pressure springs (2). | ||
4 | Unhook lower draw spring (3). | Removal and installation tool | |
5 | Remove brake shoes (1) with adjustment wheel (4) and upper draw spring (5). | Installation: Clean surfaces of brakepads on brake shoes (1) by roughening up slightly with abrasive cloth. | |
6 | Remove expanding lever (6) from brake cable. | To do so, press out the armature pin (7). | |
Installation: Ensure that expanding lever (6) is installed correctly. Lightly grease the contact surfaces of the expanding lever (6), brake shoes (1) and armature pins (7). | |||

If undersize or cracks are present, | |||

Replace the brake shoes (1) on both sides of the vehicle. | |||
8 | Install in the reverse order | ||
