Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.

Remove/install

Remove wheel and tire assembly from rear axle

Remove rear axle brake disk

Disconnect front brake cable from pulley unit

 Do not unhook the rear brake cables (4).

Remove brake shoe adjuster (7)

Remove upper retracting spring (8)

 Removal and installation tool

Remove expanding springs (2)

Remove lower retracting spring (9)

 Use a screwdriver.

Remove brake shoes (3)

 Installation: Check brake cable lock (6) for ease of movement.

Clean brake parts

Check brake parts for wear and damage, replace, if necessary

Install in the reverse order

Adjust parking brake
