Danger! | Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. | Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.
| Remove front wheels | ||
| Remove bolt (1) on brake caliper (2) at the top | When unfastening the bolt (1) counterhold the bearing pin using a suitable fork wrench.
| |||
| Fold down brake caliper (2) | Installation: When folding up the brake caliper (2) ensure that the spring (3) on the brake lining (7) is clamped under the brake caliper (6).
| Remove guide pin (4) and upper bellows (5) from brake caliper (2)
| Pull brake caliper (2) out of the lower guide (8)
| Remove lower bellows (9) | Installation: Check for correct seating of upper bellows (5) and lower bellows (9). The sealing lip (12) on the bellows must be engaged correctly into the groove on the corresponding guide pin.
| Check upper bellows (5) and lower bellows (9) | If the lower bellows (9) are damaged the complete brake caliper (2) is to be replaced; if the upper bellows (5) are damaged then they have to be replaced, as otherwise the braking effect will be reduced.
| Use a suitable tool to remove dust boot (10) from brake piston (11)
| Clean brake piston (11) and brake caliper (2) in the area of the dust boot (10)
| Check brake caliper (2) | If the brake pistons are heavily contaminated or corroded, the right and left brake calipers (2) should be replaced.
| Install in the reverse order |
