Do not undertake a general brake line change each time the connections are loosened; observe color coding

Step 4

 	Remove/install
Danger!	Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.	Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.	AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

	Collect brake fluid which runs out in a suitable container
	When installing do not bend brake lines, pay attention to routing, leaktightness and clearance to the body.
1	Remove underfloor paneling		AR61.30-P-1001RR
2	Remove luggage compartment pan

	Check
4	Check brake lines for color codings	 Brake lines should be replaced if, with red color coding, they have been released at the corresponding screwing point. See: 

		"Red" safety paint	*BR00.45-Z-1028-07A
	Brake lines from the ESP hydraulic unit (2) to the master brake cylinder (1)
5	Unscrew the threaded connection of the brake line (3 or 4) at the ESP hydraulic unit (2) and master brake cylinder (1)	 Installation: Do not damage the thread when attaching otherwise failure of the brake system may occur caused by the formation of shavings.
		 Seal the openings in the ESP hydraulic unit (2) and master brake cylinder (1) using suitable plugs.

6	Remove brake line (3 or 4)
	Brake lines from the ESP hydraulic unit (2) to front axle
7	Unscrew threaded connection of the brake line (5) on the right or brake line (5.1) on the left on ESP hydraulic unit (2) and front brake hose (7) on the right or left	 Installation: Do not damage the thread when attaching otherwise failure of the brake system may occur caused by the formation of shavings.
		Seal the openings in the hydraulic unit (2) using suitable plugs
		Counterhold at the appropriate front brake hose (7) using a suitable tool.

8	Remove brake line (5) on the right or brake line (5.1) on the left	 Do not damage brackets. Pay attention to the mountings of other brake lines.
	Brake lines from ESP hydraulic unit (2) to rear axle
9	Unscrew threaded connection of brake line (6) on right or brake line (6.1) on left on ESP hydraulic unit (2) and rear brake hose (8) on right or rear brake hose (9) on left	 Installation: Do not damage the thread when attaching otherwise failure of the brake system may occur caused by the formation of shavings.
		 Counterhold at the appropriate brake hose using a suitable tool.
		 Open folding clamp.
		Seal the openings in the ESP hydraulic unit (2) using suitable plugs

10	Detach brake line (6) on right or brake line (6.1) on left from bracket (10) and remove	 Do not damage brackets. Pay attention to the mountings of other brake lines.
	Brake lines on rear axle
11	Unscrew threaded connection of brake line (11) on right or brake line (11.1) on left on rear brake hose (8) on the right or rear brake hose (9) on the left and wheel brake cylinder (12) on the right or left	 Installation: Do not damage the thread when attaching otherwise failure of the brake system may occur caused by the formation of shavings.
		 Counterhold at the appropriate brake hose using a suitable tool.
		Seal opening in wheel brake cylinder (12) using suitable plugs.

12	Remove brake line (11) on the right or brake line (11.1) on the left	 Do not damage brackets. Pay attention to fixings of brake line (11, 11.1)
13	Install in the reverse order
14	Bleed brake system		AR42.10-P-0010RR
15	Carry out transposition check
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04RR
