Remove

Remove the differential assembly

Remove the sprocket with the differential

Unlock the collar nut (1)

Remove the flange (2) together with the O-ring (12)


The flange (2) must be replaced each time it is removed.
The flange splined part (2) is deformed when mounted, resulting an end play if the flange (2) is mounted for the second time.

Remove the pinion (11)

 Install again the collar nut (1) to protect the thread of the pinion (11) and avoid falls.

 Use a press to extract the pinion (11).

Remove the radial seal (3)

Remove tapered roller bearing (4)



Check

Check the tapered roller bearings (4, 10) for wear and damages

.

In case of damage or wear:



Replace the tapered roller bearings (4, 10).



Install

 Warning

Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

Heat the tapered roller bearing (10) to approximately 80 °C and install it in the pinion (11)

Determine the pinion's assembly dimension

Install the outer raceway (9) on the differential housing (6)

Install the outer raceway (5) of the bearing in the housing (6)

Determine the thickness of the pinion spacer washer (11)

Install the radial retainer (3)

 Use a new radial retainer.

 Apply sealant to the outer surface of radial seal ring (3).
