 	Remove/install
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
		While working on the rear axle care must be taken to ensure that the surfaces of aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the of the parts will be reduced.
1	Secure vehicle on vehicle lift		AR00.60-P-0100T
2	Remove rear wheels		AP40.10-P-4050V
3	Unfasten threaded connections of propeller shaft center support bearing (2) to frame floor assembly		AR41.10-P-0050V
4	Remove rear stiffening bridge (8)		*BA61.10-P-1008-01A
5	Detach propeller shaft from differential (4)	 The flex disk (3) remains on the propeller shaft.	AR41.10-P-0050V
6	Prop up rear axle differential (4) using transmission jack and assembly attachment and secure in place using suitable straps	 Assembly attachment	*140589016200

7	Remove bolt (7) of front mounting of rear axle differential (4)	 Installation: Tighten bolt (7), while doing so counterhold self-locking nut or plate with integrated locknut: 

8	Open trunk and remove covering for spare wheel well
9	Remove bolts (6) of rear axle differential rear suspension (4)	 For model 171 with engine 113, only the right bolt (6) can be removed through the spare-wheel recess. The left bolt (6) is accessible from below.

10	Lower the rear axle center assembly (4) and pull forward	 Do not kink rear axle shaft (5) too much as otherwise the rear axle shaft joints (5) may be damaged.
		 Lower the rear axle center assembly (4) until the rear rubber mounts are accessible.
11	Remove rear rubber mount of rear axle center assembly suspension		AR35.10-P-0050-02V

12	Install in the reverse order
