Remove

Remove switch cylinder from differential lock.

Disassemble

Remove differential lock indicator switch, front axle (S76/9).

 Socket wrench bit

Unscrew screws (15) and remove flange (13).

Remove seal (12).

Remove piston (9) with grooved collar (10) and sealing ring (11).

Remove compression spring (8).

Remove gearshift shaft (3) together with spacer sleeve (6) and compression springs (4, 5).

Remove gearshift lever (2).

Clamp compression springs (4, 5) using clamping device.

Remove retaining washer (7).

Remove spacer sleeve (6).

Remove compression springs (4, 5).



Check

Check component parts of differential lock shift cylinder for wear and damage.

If problems exist,



replace corresponding components.



Clean

Clean component parts of differential lock shift cylinder.

Assembly cleaner

Clean sealing surfaces of housing (1) and flange (13).


Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces can be damaged otherwise.

Loctite 7063 (400 ml) cleaning spray

Assemble

Coat all sliding component parts of differential lock shift cylinder with grease.

Install compression springs (4, 5).

Install spacer sleeve (6).

Install retaining washer (7).

Remove clamping device.

Install gearshift lever (2).

Install gearshift shaft (3) together with spacer sleeve (6) and compression springs (4, 5).

 Coat thread of gearshift shaft (3) with thread-locking adhesive.

Install compression spring (8).

Install piston (9) with grooved collar (10) and sealing ring (11).

 Replace grooved collar (10) and sealing ring (11).

Install seal (12).

 Install new seal (12).

Install flange (13) and screw in screws (15).
