1 | Remove front drive shaft | ||
2 | Remove cover (1) | ||
3 | Remove retaining ring (2) | Install new retaining ring (2). | |
4 | Detach hose clamp (3, 4) | ||
5 | Cut open rubber boot (5) and pull off at joint (7) | ||
6 | Pull ball joint (7) off drive shaft (6) | Pull off ball joint (7) with the aid of a plastic hammer or press tool. | |
7 | Observe installation position of joint (7). | ||

8 | Slide clamps (3, 4) and rubber boot (5) onto drive shaft (6) | ||
9 | Insert rubber boot (5) in the corresponding groove of drive shaft (6) | | |
10 | Pack ball joint (7) with grease | Long-life grease | |
11 | Attach ball joint (7) to toothing of drive shaft (6) and as far as the end stop | Observe installation position of joint (7). Put on ball joint (7) with the aid of a plastic hammer or press tool. | |
12 | Install retaining ring (2) | ||
13 | Coat rubber boot (5) on the inside with grease | Long-life grease | |
14 | Slide rubber boot (5) onto ball joint (7) | ||
15 | Fasten clamps (3, 4) | Safety pliers for hose clamps | |
Clamp pliers (hose clamps) | |||
16 | Apply sealant to the cover (1) and press cover (1) onto the ball joint (7) | To align the cover (1) insert two bolts in the ball joint (7). | |
17 | Install front drive shaft |
