Remove

1

Remove axle boot of front axle shaft (1) at transmission end.

Remove clamps (2, 4).

 Dispose of clamps (2, 4).

Remove axle boot (3).

 To do so, remove axle boot (3) from front axle shaft (1) towards ball joint at transmission end.



Clean

Clean front axle shaft (1) and ball joint (5).

Check

Check front axle shaft (1), axle boot (3) and ball joint (5) for damage.

If corresponding findings are present,



replace affected components.



Install

Slide axle boot (3) onto front axle shaft (1).

Fill ball joint (5) with grease.

 Use grease from the repair kit. Only use quantity of grease from repair kit.

Slide axle boot (3) onto ball joint (5).


Check for correct seating of axle boot (3) on ball joint (5) and front axle shaft (1).
Otherwise the axle boot (3) can be damaged or become leaky.


Do not apply wax or similar preservation agent to the axle boot (3).
Otherwise the axle boot (3) can be damaged.

Install new clamps (2, 4).


Install clamps (2, 4) each offset by 180° relative to corresponding clamps of transmission-end ball joint.
This prevents any imbalance on the front axle shaft (1).

Install axle boot of front axle shaft (1) at transmission end.
