Danger! | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid | Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.
| Notes on Active Body Control suspension | ||
1 | Remove fender liner in left rear fender
2 | Relieve pressure in ABC system
| |||
3 | Remove retaining bracket (1) of pressure lines
4 | Undo nut (2) and pull carrier plate out of guide (3) | Place carrier plate down on transmission jack
| |||
5 | Unscrew high-pressure line to left rear suspension strut (FB1) and the pressure line to the right rear suspension strut (FB2) from rear ABC valve body (Y36/2)
| Notes on fitting hydraulic lines and hoses | ||
6 | Detach pressure line of tandem pump (P) and pressure line to rear axle pressure reservoir (SP) from the rear axle ABC valve unit (Y36/2) | To allow time for the ABC system to depressurize completely, wait at least 15 minutes before disconnecting the high-pressure supply line from the tandem pump (P) and the high-pressure supply line to the pressure reservoir for the rear suspension (SP).
| |||
7 | Detach line to expansion reservoir (T) from rear axle ABC valve unit (Y36/2)
8 | Detach electrical connections (53d) and electrical connections (53e) on rear axle ABC valve unit (Y36/2) | Before detaching the electrical connectors (53d, 53e), check whether the color coding on the rear axle ABC valve unit (Y36/2) and the electrical connectors (53d, 53e) are present. Otherwise, if incorrectly mounted, the rear axle ABC valve unit (Y36/2) may be destroyed or malfunction.
Installation: The electrical plugs and connections on the ABC valve body for the rear suspension (Y36/2) are color coded; take care to ensure that they are reconnected in the correct positions.
9 | Detach the ABC valve body for the rear suspension (Y36/2) from its mounting bracket
10 | Install in the reverse order
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
